Madon-no and Fleetwood Lack for Glastonbury

Sorry, that is truly terrible.  Rumours abound that Emily Eavis has ruled out Madonna, Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin as headliners for next years Glastonbury festival.

Twitter Account, The Glasto Thingy reported on answers supposedly given by Eavis at a charity event in Taunton.

Madonna was favourite with some bookies.  Fleetwood Mac were also fairly highly backed to appear.  No mention of other favourites, The Cure.

I never met a poor bookie

Bookies are differing on who will headline Glastonbury next year.

Paddy Power, the bookmakers and serial japesters, has stopped taking bets on who will headline Glastonbury 2019.  Madonna is now the red hot favourite to make her Glastonbury debut.

Among Paddy Power’s other favourites are Kendrick Lamar, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John and the Arctic Monkeys.

SkyBet have The Cure as favourites.  Paul McCartney, with a new album to promote, is second favourite.  Stormzy and Madonna are third and fourth favourites respectively.

I never met a poor bookie, and PP in particular seem to think that word has crept out from Glasto HQ.

Not in the Bestival position

The Times reports that the company behind Bestival is seeking new investment and that the music festival is likely to ‘enter administration.’    The administration process offers protection to the business from creditors while it seeks to source new investment and resolve its debts.

James Benamor has filed the administration notices at the High Court.  One of Benamore’s companies appears to have loaned £1.6m to Bestival in 2017 and took a charge on some assets at the time.  Bestival’s organisers have indicated they are looking for a new partner to come on board to secure the future of the event.

Launched in 2004 and originally situated on the Isle of Wight,  Bestival moved to Dorset in 2017.  Bestival 2018 saw performances from the likes of London Grammar, M.I.A, Grace Jones and Plan B.

This is not the first time that the future of the festival has been in some doubt.  With questions raised in 2016 about whether the downscaling of the festival meant that it was in danger, something organisers were quick to rule out at the time.   We await news from the organisers with interest.

Cure to play around 20 festivals next summer

Great news for Cure fans, Robert Smith has tweeted that the goth kings will play 20 around festivals next Summer, mostly in Europe.  Details to be posted on their website at an unspecified future date.

The Cure played just one European show this Summer – in Hyde Park.  The broader schedule will delight fans.  Glastonbury is rumoured to be one of the shows on the schedule.
